Writing
Throughout my time at SRU and far before my college years, I have had a love for writing that I have had many opportunities to continue to develop. I graduated with a writing minor, which began because of my exploration of professional and creative writing in academia. My experiences with creative, professional, journalistic and PR writing have made me a well-rounded writer who can write for a wide scope of topics and settings.
Latrobe Bulletin
The Rocket
I started contributing for The Rocket during my first semester at SRU in the fall of 2020. In December of that year, I applied and was promoted to Campus Life Editor where I served for many years. In this role, I was writing about 2-3 stories per week, managing the section and contributors, collaborating across the staff and designing during print weeks. In August of 2023, I decided to make the jump to Copy/Web Editor. I made this decision to gain more insight into the story process from conception to publishing, as well as to gain more hands-on experience with social media management.
In January of 2024, my final semester at SRU, I was promoted to Editor-in-Chief of The Rocket. In this role, I managed a staff of 15 members and took care of administrative tasks of the organization. I was the head of a fantastic, hard-working and empathetic staff. Throughout my years at Slippery Rock University, being a part of The Rocket was one of my most rewarding and insightful experiences. I have written over 60 stories, including staff editorials, and designed multiple award-winning pages. My time with The Rocket is one of my most extensive experiences in college.
I have had opportunities to travel for the College Media Association Convention, working with students and faculty from all walks of life and was able to present research at SRU’s 2024 Symposium for Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity about community storytelling through local journalism.

Finding Peace Within, Blog created for ENGL 365
As an intern for the Latrobe Bulletin, I wrote seven community feature stories. I also drafted a social media audit where I conducted research on the organization’s social media, and offered solutions across various platforms. I also researched Meta’s news posting guidelines to relieve a shadowban issue the organization was facing. Finding Peace Within was created for a class titled “Writing for the World Wide Web,” which focused on how to write for digital landscapes and how best to connect with a digital audience. In this class, we learned to conduct landscape analyses, best practices for crafting content, writing blogs, newsletters and more.
I chose my blog to focus on topics of mental health for college-aged women, as this is a topic I am passionate about, both personally and professionally. By clicking the image on the right, you will be taken to a new window linking to the blog.
